About me…

If I’m going to ask you questions about yourselves, it’s only fair you know a little about me!

Cue The Vows is my chosen company name because I’m “marrying” my two working worlds under one name. My role as a wedding celebrant but also my life as an Executive Producer in TV, making light entertainment, quiz and game shows.

Forget the BAFTA (although I am quite chuffed with that) – my proudest moment is being a mum to my “big kids.” They’re the true loves of my life and the real reason I’ve put in the hard work over the years. It’s not just about keeping them fed but also showing them what hard work (and a dash of humour) can achieve.

Working in TV can be thrilling but also demanding. While there are moments of glamour, most of the time it’s about long hours, late nights, early mornings, and being away from home. As a leader, I move from project to project, building new teams and often meeting people for the first time. Quickly getting to know them is crucial for a successful production, and teamwork is the key to achieving the best results.

I’m an accomplished storyteller in both my TV work and my role as a celebrant, always looking for fresh and engaging ways to share a story. Humour is the key ingredient for any entertainment show, and it’s just as important in a wedding ceremony—it puts everyone at ease. As Charles Dickens said, “There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humour.”

It’s also crucial in my TV life that I’m a good listener. When I’m collaborating with a team under pressure or with celebrities on camera I have to listen and actively respond to any situation. Understanding our collective vision as a production team is part of the everyday working life in TV.

And it’s the same with couples, I take the time to find out what they want, asking thoughtful questions and helping them shape everything from the vows to the flow of the ceremony.

Communication is a key ingredient in making TV, especially for studio shows like Alan Carr’s Picture Slam or the popular daytime quiz, Lingo. We produce several shows a day, and everyone needs to be in sync—it’s like choreography, and the only way to keep in step is through effective communication.

When couples choose a celebrant, they want something unique and that’s what I strive to provide.

If you want a quick-fire list of my personality traits, likes and dislikes – here they are:

Dog lover – ALL dogs, even the slobbery ones

Favourite food – my weakness is chocolate, the good stuff though, 70% dark.

Football – Manchester United fan, season ticket holder (don’t let that put you off)

Music lover – my darling late husband Graeme was the guitarist in Deacon Blue – we met when I was making music TV. I love listening back to our favourite songs.

Exercise – I adore reformer Pilates, strength training, running and long walks in the Cheshire countryside where I live.

I’d like to think that my best traits are being thoughtful, kind, fiercely loyal and determined (ok, you could call it stubborn), but only with the best of intentions, as I believe in doing the right thing.

I can’t wait to meet you and hear all about your love story. Get in touch using the form at the bottom of the page or click on the button to see what it’s like to work with me.

“Julie, we had the most amazing day. It was everything I dreamt up in my crazy head and more. I was so nervous for the ceremony but your wonderful service helped evaporate the nerves, you were amazing. The feedback has been phenomenal!”

— Laurence, the groom
